This Week at Canvas
Sorry for not posting this week yet. We have a student mission team in from West Palm Beach, FL and they are doing all kinds of stuff to help us and to learn about church planting. Here is the schedule…
Sunday – they arrived at 6:30am to help us set up. Then we invaded Moe’s and went to the beach. ![]()
Monday – We put together about 1500 door hangers (all we had left over) and put them in several neighborhoods around SAV until dark.
Tuesday – Do some clean up work around the theater we meet in. Lots of sawing limbs, raking, shoveling, etc. (yeah, it really did need it… the place hasn’t been maintained well on the outside…typical SAV) Then they ALL came to my house for dinner (that was interesting).
Wednesday – making posters and banners for a block party for the inner city kids, give out ice cream then a big cook out.
Thursday – Doing some homeless ministry and advertising for the church at a local park with cold bottled waters.
They have really been an awesome group of kids and adults. We couldn’t have asked for a better group! We will miss them when they leave on Friday.
As for Sunday…
Everything went well. We had Angela (one of our SCAD grads) sculpting a small vase on stage while I talked about adversity and how God uses the messy stuff in our lives to make us into what he wants us to become. I thought it was pretty cool.
Mark played bass in Will’s absence and did a great job. There was alot more energy in the room with all the West Palm Beach students. We had several people give some really good comments about Canvas on Sunday. I think the vibe is definitely growing and the word is getting out.
Small groups started last week. Ours is Thursday night. I love our group!
We are working with another student group on coming to help us at the end of July and one possibly in the early fall. These groups are really going to help us get some momentum for the fall when school starts back up.
I’m just generally excited about what’s happening. I can see God stirring things up a bit! Get ready SAV its coming and there is no stopping it!
